Meeting of the Community Liaison Group with the SSE Thermal team.

Members of the public are welcome to sit in on the meetings and there is usually an open session at the end where you can voice opinions, ask questions and raise issues.

GS Site Operations Update

Business as usual

Update on Hydrogen Pathfinder Project

  • Town and Country Planning / Hazardous Substances Consent Application
  • Both applications validated and consultation ongoing.
  • Twelve consultee comments submitted as of beginning of week – SSE in process of responding to all comments with required information.
  • Screening
  • Remainder of screening from original plans to be completed in December (see previous CLG pack for details).
  • Screening gap near site entrance to be reviewed by Heritage Hedging when on site for screening work and plan to be developed for review.
  • Lease agreement amendments ongoing on land where additional screening (Area 6) requested. As per previous CLG, screening plan to be reviewed following amendment to lease is complete.

Update on Hydrogen Storage Project

Archaeological site investigation should be complete by 15 November.

Seismic Survey re-scheduled to 2025

  • New survey licences to be issued to landowners before Christmas
  • Reconnaissance surveys (on foot) January-February
  • UXO survey March-April
  • Demo Day TBC
  • Access to beach for seismic will require some work to the existing East Newton Cut
  • Seismic survey August (after harvest)

Community investment fund update – £8993 committed to projects from the last allocation round. New application window to open in early December.

SSE Thermal will be sitting on the Changing Coasts steering group that will start in late 2024/early 2025.
